2026 Tommy Douglas Lecture

This special event has already taken place.

The Inaugural Tommy Douglas Lecture theme; "Medicare at a Crossroads," dives deep into the heart of our national discourse. At a time when the sustainability of our healthcare system is under intense stress and scrutiny, we will examine whether the funding decisions of provincial and federal governments have caused an erosion of trust in our public healthcare system, and our Canadian identity.

Named in honor of Tommy Douglas, this lecture aims to bridge the gap between historical vision and modern challenges, fostering a dialogue that is as urgent as it is essential.

"The Tommy Douglas Lecture serves as a vital platform for rigorous intellectual debate on the social policies that define our nation." Irene Mathyssen, President, DCLF
