Join us for an engaging and timely discussion on Canadian Immigration Policy.

📅 Date: April 3rd, 2025
📍 Location: McGill University (McGill Faculty Club, Billiard Room)
⏰ Time: Doors open at 5:00 PM

Canada has long enjoyed a broad consensus on immigration, with public opinion showing strong support for welcoming newcomers. However, this consensus is being tested as debates around temporary foreign workers, refugee resettlement, international student visas, and the housing crisis become more pressing.

The 2025 Jack Layton Lecture will bring together leading experts to explore these critical issues and discuss how immigration policy can best serve all Canadians.

What to Expect:

✅ Insights from new polling data on Canadian attitudes toward immigration
✅ Economic implications of current immigration levels
✅ Policy mechanisms for effective immigration management
✅ Connections between immigration, housing, labor markets, and economic growth

Panelists:

  • David Coletto – CEO, Abacus Data

  • Mikal Skuterud – Professor, University of Waterloo

  • Shamira Madhany – Managing Director, World Education Services (WES)

Moderated by:

  • Jennifer Welsh – Max Bell School of Public Policy

Following the discussion, join us for a cocktail reception to network with speakers, policymakers, and other attendees.
