Jack Layton Activism Award Nominations 2022

Jack Layton was a leader and visionary advocate for progressive change, as well as a practical “doer” who worked at all levels. He deeply believed in our collective power to organize for transformative change.

A key component of the Jack Layton Legacy initiative, a partnership between the Douglas Coldwell Layton Foundation and the Institute for Change Leaders, is to support and encourage groups and individuals who are committed to organizing for change in their community.

In line with this purpose, the Layton Legacy initiative is delighted to open nominations for the 2022 Jack Layton Activism Award! This initiative is designed to amplify the activism we see all around us; to support, grow, and move forward with the changes we want to see. You can learn about the 2021 Layton Activism Award winner, Christopher Nkambwe, here.

HOW CAN YOU PARTICIPATE?

Nominations are now open for the second annual Layton Activism Award, to be awarded in August 2022. To nominate someone, please use the form below. We encourage you to share this opportunity with individuals and groups who might be a good fit, and we strongly encourage self-nominations!

Let us know what you and your group are doing and why. Describe and share your passion for change, and that of your group/organization. Your involvement not only helps grow the movement overall, it opens up opportunities for your group to access needed resources and training as you continue your activism.

The winner will receive an award of $5,000.00 and an opportunity to receive organizing for change training with the Institute for Change Leaders. The deadline to apply was July 18, 2022.
